Wado Ryu

Japan Karate Institute teaches traditional Wado Ryu Karate. Wado Ryu was founded in 1934 by Shihan Hinori Otsuka and is often considered to be the first true Japanese martial art, Japan Karate Institute teaches this art as it was handed down from Otsuka Shihan to Soke Hirano and Shihan Woodard. Sensei Dale Coker has been training in Wado Ryu karate since 1971. He has taught tens of thousands of students since he began



instructing in 1973. As one of the first graduates of the Japan International Karate Center Instructor academy under Shihan Woodard, he has taught throughout the United States as well in Japan and Thailand at international affiliates.
Wado Ryu is a comprehensive system which blends karate with traditional Japanese Jujitsu. Our Wado Ryu program will assist everyone whether they are young, old, male or female. Key areas of focus are:
